Hello SubStack, Hello World
I was on HitRecord (and still am), enjoying writing ‘stuff’ as often as I go online. I also found myself, as a long time user on FaceBook (FB) and Instagram (IG), engaging on FB and IG less and less. I like the idea of having an online space where I can put my writing and my thoughts out into the world, even if no one sees it. Maybe someone will and really like what I say and write. Maybe.
I sing, write songs, write poetry, and try to write novels (I’ve started a couple, have had lots of ideas, but am yet to finish any, songwriting and poetry are so much quicker and easier to finish). I’m in the process of self-publishing a poetry picture book for adults called A Faerieverse Adventure. It is one story told in 16 poems (which are on HitRecord). I play guitar and bass, but not that well to be honest, so when possible, I prefer to just sing.
In 2023 my rock/pop band Subatomic Cookie Bandits (SCB) released an album called Responsible Citizens, with mostly my songs, a couple of co-written songs with our bass player, and a couple of his songs. We are currently ‘thinking about’ recording more as we are currently performing a set of mostly new songs.
The female drummer from SCB and I decided to start an all-female punk/indie band as a side project recently. We found a guitarist on a FB muso page who seems a good fit and Perky PsychoPaths* (PPP) was born. We had our debut gig on 20 July 2025 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia (oh yeah, forgot to say, that’s where I’m from). We’re planning on recording soon-ish, all my songs so far, but the others may write some eventually.
